4.1.4 Front Panel Diagnostics
The SNMP Manager Module diagnostics for the 9135 Two-Port and 9140 Four-Port Switch are indicated
on the front panel by the following LEDs as shown in Figure 4-4:
Mgr Module: SNMP Agent board installed (green)
Power: Power indicator (green)
Mgr Activity: Illuminates while management agent is active (green)
Flt: Fault indication (red indicates fault)
Note: The Flt indicator will illuminate during the reset cycle of the managed 9135 or 9140 unit, at power-
up, when a plug-in module is hot-inserted, or when the Reset button is pushed. This is normal. Should the
"Fl" indicator ever remain on, contact Canoga Perkins' Customer Service Department.
A Reset button is also located in the Manager LED Group. This button enables you to reset the unit.
Note: When the reset button is depressed it will reset the entire uni , not just the management functions,
thereby interrupting the data exchange within the associated network links.

4.2 BOOT Loader
The BOOT Loader software runs from the Boot Flash. This software is running once the device has started
and is responsible for the following:
Initializing the i960 environment
Initializing hardware device drivers
Self test diagnostics
Copy the Program file from Flash to DRAM and start running from DRAM
Performing the first TFTP download after production and upgrade downloads thereafter
VT100 terminal interface for initial device configuration
4.3 Configuration Manager
The Configuration Manager is responsible for identifying the device type and configuration and also
performs all the necessary operations to initialize the 9135 Two-Port Switch or the 9140 Four-Port Switch.
4.4 Bridging / Spanning Tree
This module is required to maintain all the IEEE 802.1d bridging processes and Spanning Tree algorithms.
The Switch ASIC hardware supports the Spanning Tree algorithm; however, the CPU implements the
protocol.
Formatted: Bullets and Numbering
